CORE APPLAUDS SUPREME COURT DECISION ON 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
Bill Curtis By: Bill Curtis
7:06 PM Friday, June 27th, 2008

Again, the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) has protected the rights of the little guy in society. The rich and powerful have always had access to 2nd Amendment rights. This courageous decision clearly outlined by Justice Scalia will help the poor and powerless in our society the most because they are the victims of most of the crimes in America. SCOTUS certified the right of self defense into a real fundamental right.

CORE supports fully today’s SCOTUS decision. We were part of the original case that ruled the D.C. gun law unconstitutional and filed an amicus brief with the US Court of Appeals as the case moved forward.

The vote was closer than we thought and it shows the importance of the victories of Pres. Bush in 2000 and 2004 and also how important the next election will be in November.

There are those who associate themselves with this great decision. We know by their records and previous positions that they are not trying to protect our rights.

We are proud to be the lone traditional civil rights organization to openly defend the 2nd amendment and join forces with the NRA to protect this sacred right.

We defend the right of people to protect themselves, families and communities.

...Statement from Roy Innis – Chairman

About CORE:

Founded in 1942, CORE is the third oldest and one of the "Big Four" civil rights groups in the United States. From the protests against "Jim Crow" laws of the 40's through the
"Sit-ins" of the 50's, the "Freedom Rides" of the 60's, the cries for "Self-Determination" in the 70's, "Equal Opportunity" in the 80's, community development in the 90's, to the current demand for equal access to information and affordable energy, CORE has championed true equality.
